Iceconoclasm

Iceconoclasm is another foray into the cold underground where you will find a new spell and many uses for the Ice Pick that you purchased back in Flash Freeze. Now let's get started. If you have any comments or problems with this guide, you can email me. I welcome all criticisms, good and bad.

You start out on the left of the screen and there is a save point to your immediate right (Picture 1) that you can use if you want to. Now go to the right past the cold water making sure to kill the fish with a dagger. You will most likely meet 2 frogs so kill them and then jump to the ledge in Picture 2. Go left on this ledge and then jump over the lake to get to the next ledge that is in Picture 3. Then jump up and to the right two times to get to Picture 4.

You will see a platform that goes up and down so hop on that and get off at the first ledge that you see to the left. Run over and get the Invincibility power up that's in Picture 5. Then go back to the right and hop on the spiked ball to get to Picture 6. Grab the Xichrons and go right to Picture 7 where there is a Knife-throwing Troll. Kill him and jump to where he was to get the Red Xichron. Now go back to where the Invincibility power up was.

Get the power up and go back to Picture 7 and hop on the spiked ball as I am doing in Picture 9. Once you make to the ledge go right and hop on the floating platform and then on the right wall to get another Invincibility power up as in Picture 10. Head on down and you will see low-hanging walls with spikes on either side. This is where the Invincibility power up will be helpful because it protects you against the spikes. To get past the walls, just run towards them and duck to slide underneath. Once you're past them go down to another small cavern, kill all of the Trolls, and head to the right. In Picture 12 you will find the Ice Wall spell. This spell has two important functions in the rest of this level and I'll explain them shortly. For now go back to the floating platform that took you to the first Invincibility power up.

This time get on the floating platform and ride all the way to the top where you will see another ledge to your left. Hop off and run all the way to the left where you will find one of your Habnabbit brethren in Picture 13. Talk to him and you can buy Fire Seeds that I'm sure will be quite useful to you in the levels to come. Besides, what else are you going to spend money on? So I suggest that you buy 20 of them. Now go back down to where you started from and go right until you come across some Ice Walls.

The rest of this level is entirely optional and there are no more goodies to be had except Gold Xichrons and coins. If you want to leave right now and go on to Hangnabbit then you won't lose out on anything. However, I have read on Ambrosia's Message Board that you need a certain number of Red Xichrons to get to other level(s). Since it is relatively easy to find Gold Xichrons in Iceconoclasm, I recommend that you continue.

You can see Ferazel using his Ice Pick in Picture 15 to break the Ice Walls. Once you're through you can save if you want to and then grab the large magic and health crystals in Picture 16. You don't have to but since getting the health crystals is a secret, you might want to anyway. Then go to the edge of the lake and use the Ice Wall spell to create small platforms that float on the water as you can see in Picture 17. Since the ice quickly melts you will need to create new platforms so you don't get dunked into the freezing water. When you get out on the other end there is another save point and more floating platforms. These platforms go left and right above spinning spiked balls so jumping from one platform to the next is quite tricky. Fortunately you can use your Statue Spell to temporarily stop the platforms which makes it a bit easier. Once you have gone all of the way to the left, you are in Picture 18 which has 2 Multicrystals and two Pentashield power ups. Now go back to the right of the lake.

Get the crate in Picture 19 and go right to use the second ability of the Ice Wall spell. In Picture 20 you see a wall covered with spikes that you ordinarily wouldn't be able to get past. Now use your Ice Wall spell and fire at the wall to make an Ice Ledge. Hope on the Ice Ledge but not too close to the spikes or you will get hurt. To climb up just jump up and use your Ice Wall spell to make another Ice Ledge and repeat to make it onto solid ground again. You end up in Picture 21 and break the right Ice Wall to get some refreshing Ziridium Brine. Go back to Picture 21 and go to the left instead.

Go left past the springs and spikes to get to Picture 23. Break the wall to get to the slime and the coins. Now go down to come to Picture 24. Explore to the left and go to the right to get to Picture 25 and a silver key. This key is necessary to leave this level so grab it and go back to Picture 23 and go up. Go right past the crossbows to get to Picture 26. Roll the snowball on the button to lift a wall elsewhere in this level. Now go back to Picture 21.

Going up from Picture 21 will find yourself in Picture 27. Get on the teleporter and kill the Axe Goblins in this room as well as the crates and go right to get to Picture 28. The Silver Key that you got earlier fits in this door so use it and the save point if you want to. Use the Ice Wall spell to go up and to the right to the lake in Picture 29. Kill the fish in the lake with your dagger and climb out on the right side of the lake. In Picture 30, use your Ice Pick to just break the bottom part of the wall so you can hurt him but he can't hurt you. After he's dead break the rest of the wall so you can get the coins. Now go back to the left of the lake and use your Ice Wall spell on the left spiked wall in Picture 29 to go up.

In Picture 31 you will have to use the Ice Wall spell to climb the spiked wall. When you get to the top you will see many cannons and you need to hop over the ones to the left. The first one is easy but the second one requires that you run to the left and jump at the last second. After a few tries you will make it over the farthest cannon. Break the wall to get access more Ziridium Brine. Now go right to Picture 33 and kill the Sword-wielding Troll and go back down through the gap in the floor. You'll be back in Picture 29. Now go down until you can't go down anymore. You'll be in Picture 34.

Go to the right past the Ice Wall to come across two crates with slime that you kill. Go back to the left and over the water in Picture 35 (you can use the Ice Wall spell for this) and jump on the teleporter. Hop on the floating platform in Picture 36 and go left to get a Double Speed power up. Run to the right and under the floating platform to see a spiked ball that goes up and down in a tube. When the spiked ball is at the top right beneath it and fall down. Go to the right and you'll see a small snowball in Picture 37. When you push the ball to the left and right it gets bigger as it collects snow. When the snowball gets big enough you can jump on it and get out of this dead-end. You'll come across another snowball but I found it much easier to use the Tree Trunk spell as I'm doing in Picture 38.

After you climb out of this dead-end you simply go to the right and follow the Gold Xichron trail until you come to the end. While I found 100% of the Enemies and 100% of the Secrets, I only found 98% of the Xichrons. I don't know where the other 2% are and no one responded to my post on Ambrosia's message board so I am truly perplexed. On the other hand, there were some errors with this level including some sprite faces not loading and some jerky behavior in one part (the springs and spikes area before Picture 23). So miscounting the number of Xichrons collected wouldn't be surprising considering the other problems that I experienced. Still, if you found 100% of the Xichrons please email me and tell me how so I can update this guide accordingly.
