Fire Guardians pits you against two creatures that bear a striking resemblance to snakes as they bob up and down. Unfortunately, real snakes don't shoot fire balls as these Fire Guardians do and avoiding them will be quite challenging.
You'll start as I am in Picture 1 with the two Fire Guardians that you have to kill separately. That's right, if you kill the left one you still have to kill the right one. You'll notice that the right Fire Guardian's eyes are glowing and the left one isn't. The significance of this is that a Fire Guardian is only vulnerable when its eyes are glowing and they only glow for a few seconds. So now that you know when to fire at them, what spell do you use? I used the Ziridium Seeds that I picked up but you can also go back to Purple Haze to pick up the Multi Crystals and use your Ice Wall spell. I did read at Ambrosia's web board that someone used the Fireball Spell but it does take longer than the Ice Wall spell. Basically, you want to use any skill that flies out in an arc so that rules out the VBlade and the Boomerang spells. I would use Fire/Ziridium Seeds, the Ice Wall spell, or the Statue spell since they kill each Fire Guardian in 7 hits or less. I used the Tree Trunk spell but that took me 12 hits so I wouldn't recommend using that spell. So now you need to know how to avoid their fire balls. You can jump back and forth between either the top two platforms or the bottom two platforms. I tried both of them and I found that the top two platforms easier since there is a disappearing platform that I often accidentally jumped on. So I jumped back and forth between the two platforms to avoid the fire balls. Usually, just one of them fired at me and so I either jumped up vertically, ducked, or jumped to the other platform to avoid it. Sometimes both Fire Guardians fired at the same time which was a bit tougher. I either jumped up or I jumped off of the platform to avoid them. If you're a good jumper, you will not get hit very often and will not die even once. Picture 2 shows how a Fire Guardian looks like when it's defeated. There are three crates behind the wall that you can break with your Boomerang spell. In order to get 100% of the secrets, you have to actually enter the alcoves and get the power ups. These could be useful but I think that getting them will be more difficult than they are worth. Then you go through the door to get your prize, the Fire Charm. What this does is make you invulnerable to flames and fire spouts but not to lava. This will be vital when you make your way to the Ends of the Earth. Use the Ziridium Brine and save as you make your way out with 100% of the secrets. |
