Ends of the Earth is a tough level and it combines many of the skills you learned in previous levels. You're also required to use both the Tree Trunk and the Ice Wall spells and the Ice Pick and Fire Charm so if you skipped getting them, go back and get them before you move further. I also recommend buying as many Health and Magic potions before starting this level. You'll probably need as many as you can get and there aren't anything else to buy so don't worry about running out of money. I've also been receiving some emails from people who got the Ice Crystal spell instead of the Ice Wall spell. To fix this, go to Ferazel's official web site or VersionTracker and download the 1.03 updater. This will fix this problem among many others and you'll be glad you got it.
Walk to the right until you meet a cloaked figure in Picture 1. Walk up to talk to him and you'll see his request in Picture 2. If you have more than 20 Red Xichrons, agree to his request and you'll see him allowing you to pass in Picture 3 and Ferazel's hesitant reply in Picture 4. This high cost of passing through the gate is why you spent so much time getting all of the Gold Xichrons throughout the previous levels. You see that I have 4 Red Xichrons left over so you can miss getting about 400 Gold Xichrons and still get through.
Go to the right and you'll see where the Fire Charm becomes necessary in Picture 5. Without the Fire Charm, Ferazel would be hurt by the flames and fighting those tough Purple Goblins would be a lot harder. Since they are so tough, I recommend using your Ice Wall spell to kill them quickly. If you start shooting them as soon as you see them, you will only get hit once by their big axes. Go right to Picture 6 and you'll be given a pool of Ziridium Brine and a Save Point. Heal up, save, and go right to Picture 7. At this point you can use the VBlade spell to break the rock above Ferazel's head or you can use the Boomerang or Fireball spell to do the same thing but just slower. After the rock is clear, you'll be in Picture 8 and you need to use your Ice Wall spell to once again climb up the spiked wall. By now you should be pretty good at doing this.
At the top you need to use your Ice Pick and break all three ice walls (Picture 9) and go into the Dragon Cannons and you'll land in Picture 10. These enemies are Wraiths and they throw an equivalent of Fire Seeds and then disappear. They are supposed to be killable by reflecting their bombs back at them with the Magical Shield but I and others have not been able to do this. So until the 1.04 patch comes out that will fix this, you'll just have to avoid them and their bombs. In Picture 10 there is a secret tunnel under the pile of blocks. Use a Fire Seed to break open the rock and then your VBlade to break the rest of the rock to get to a teleporter. You'll appear in Picture 11 with three Rings of Smiting, a Resurrection Necklace, and a Purple Goblin so get your Ice Wall spell ready before you appear in this secret area. So grab the goodies, go back to the teleporter, and climb out. Walk to the right and use your VBlade in Picture 12 to get the two Rings of Smiting. Climb back out and face the first of the many challenges in Ends of the Earth.
This is pretty tricky so what you want to do is fire your Tree Trunk and Ice Wall spells so they will be right next to each other at the beginning of the list. You need to get access to the Ice Wall spell from the Tree Trunk spell very quickly. Go to where I am in Picture 13 and go left enough so that you avoid the spinning knife that is in front of Ferazel. There is a Wraith to Ferazel's left and you'll need to avoid her bombs because if she hits you when you're firing the Tree Trunk spell you'll get bumped forward and you will start making a new tree trunk. So fire the Tree Trunk spell eight times when the Wraith disappears, run forward and jump on the tree, quickly switch to the Ice Wall spell, aim up and fire it to the spiked wall, and run and jump to it, and then climb up the spiked wall with your Ice Wall spell the typical way. I often got frustrated in this part and when you finally get past it, you will never want to go back. You'll be in Picture 14 with more Wraiths. Get the Gold Xichrons and go past the Crossbows to get to Picture 15 and a new enemy. I don't know it's real name but I call it the Fire Claw and you can't hurt it. So just simply run past it and jump over the gap to get to another platform and do it again and again until you get to Picture 16. There is a secret Save Point here right underneath the line of Gold Xichrons. First use your Tree Trunk spell to get all of the Gold Xichrons and then save. The next part is another challenge.
There are a series of springs in Picture 17 that at first glance, rather intimidated me. However, getting past them isn't as difficult as I first thought. You'll have to move quickly because if you bounce on the same spring for a few times, you'll get so much momentum you'll go through the bottom of the spring and fall into a bottomless pit. So jump on the first spring and as you bounce up, press the right key to bounce over the horizontal springs to land on another vertical spring. Repeat until you get to Picture 18 and a door that you go through. You'll end up in Picture 19 and another puzzle that you have to solve. To break the rock you will have to use a combination of your Boomerang spell, Fire Seeds, and your Ice Pick. Just start out with your Boomerang spell and when it can't break any more of the rock, switch to your Ice Pick and if that can't break anything, then use your Fire Seeds. Using your VBlade also helps to get rid of rock too. After you're done, the boulder will be on the red button and you can move to the right. You'll face a number of spinning knives and crystal outcrops until you get to an acid lake and the dreaded Dragon Cannons.
This next part also aggravated me, but maybe that's just because I have lousy timing. You have to jump in the Dragon Cannons and make your way to the top Dragon Cannon. In Picture 21, I am in the Dragon Cannon to the right and the left Dragon Cannon is spinning and automatically fires you when you get into it. So you need to jump into the left Dragon Cannon when it's pointing to the left. You need to land on the platform in Picture 22 and push the red button down. It's pretty tough and you'll spend quite some time working on this part. In Picture 21 you see a platform that you should go on and jump to the right on a series of platforms. You'll find some large health and magic crystals, an Invincibility power up, and some coin bags. There is also another Purple Goblin once you go over the spiked walls so be ready with your Ice Wall spell ready.
There is a Dragon Cannon in this area but this time, you want to avoid it and not get into it since you'll be fired into the spiked wall and you don't want that. What you want to do is get up to the area by the blue fire. What I did is make an ice ledge as I am in Picture 23, get on it, run to the left and jump to the left and immediate press the right button so you cling to the wall as I am. The blue fire hurts Ferazel, even if you have the Fire Charm so use the spiked platform that is going left and right over the blue fire. If you get on it and head right, you'll be in Picture 24. The crates don't have anything in them and you can get the large health and magic crystals if you need them. You probably will try to go through the door but you need a silver key, but where could it possibly be? Go back to the left of the blue fire and make an ice ledge on the spiked wall as I did in Picture 25. Run to get on it and make your way up to Picture 26, duck beneath the purple spiked ball, break open the crate and get the silver key. If you run and jump to the right, you won't have to make another ice ledge as you did to get up by the blue fire in the first place. Now you can use your VBlade to break the rock and push the boulder on the red button. Now head back down to see all three rock doors open and ready for you to go through.
You'll be in Picture 27 with yet another purple spiked ball, Gold Xichrons, and a door. Grab the Xichrons and head through the door. You'll see three spiked platforms to get to Picture 28 and some well-deserved large health crystals. Now go through the purple spiked balls and the lake to get to Picture 29. You'll have to use a combination of Fire Seeds and your Ice Pick to break the rock to get to the Ziridium Brine. You will undoubtedly use this before you finally make your way out of this level. The Double Speed power up will help you to run fast past the spikes and even more purple spiked balls. At the end, you'll be in Picture 30 and you'll face two more purple goblins. Kill them and make your way to the right.
You're now in the final stretch, but you have one more challenge to face before you can face the evil queen and it involves even more Dragon Cannons. *sigh* You'll be in Picture 31 and you need to use the Tree Trunk spell to make your way up to the wall. These spikes go in and out so you'll need to wait until the spikes go in and climb up as high as possible, then jump up and press the right button to cling to the wall above the spikes. If you don't do this, you won't get past the spikes before they come back out. Now you'll have to get in a series of Dragon Cannons that go up and down. Make your way to where I am in Picture 32. I'm in the right Dragon Cannon and the left Dragon Cannon is rotating. You have to get in the left Dragon Cannon when it's pointing northwest so you can get into another Dragon Cannon that is pointing up. You can see me getting that Dragon Cannon in Picture 33. You have to make your way to the left until you make your way to Picture 34. Get on the red button which opens the last rock door which leads to the exit. Now jump back down and make your way to the right and back to Picture 31. Before you leave, use your VBlade and break the rock to get access to the two Resurrection Necklaces. Then get on the Save Point and congratulate yourself on making your way through a tough level. You'll notice that I only got 52% of the enemies defeated even though I got 100% of the secrets and 100% of the Gold Xichrons. This is because of the Wraiths that you met at the beginning that could not be killed even though Ben Spees (creator of Ferazel's Wand) says that they should be. So until the update comes out and this bug is fixed, they will remain unkillable and so you can't defeat 100% of the enemies. Now you're facing the last level of Ferazel's Wand and quite possibly, the toughest boss you'll ever face. It is the famed Xichra Queen herself. Defeat her to save your Hobnobbit brethren and I know you're ready because you have gained many skills in your travels. |
