Up Close and Personal with David Dunham

Some folks enjoy meeting the people behind the scenes of Ambrosia, some are curious about what goes into a new program, and some are just plain nosy. So each issue of The Ambrosia Times we interview a member of the Ambrosia family.

Ambrosia Times - So, tell me a bit about the "real Dave" - the guy behind the guy.

David Dunham -The truth is there is no "real David". I am a virtual support technician created
by Andrew. I took 567,000,000 lines of think C code to create.

AT - What do you do in your spare time (besides looking at women)?

DD - The sad truth is I am a comic book junkie. (Verotik, Hitman, Elektra, and Spawn)

AT - What do you think of Ambrosia So far? Did you expect that fame would come to you so quickly?

DD - Ambrosia is cool as Kung Fu. I always knew that I would be famous in some way. I just thought it would entail a tall building, an assault rifle and my strong sense of destiny.

AT - Do you think you can overcome "the Cajun factor"? Do you think the computing public will accept you as Ambrosia's new diety of tech support, or will you be stuck in Cajun's shadow for a while?

DD - I will never be able to outshine Cajun.

AT - Don't be silly, you'll be up to speed in no time. Are you a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or are you in the Reform Party? Why?

DD - I am a Republican. I beleive in limiting the power of the federal government over me as much as possible. But, I find myself disagreeing with the way Republicanism is practiced in D.C.

AT - Tell me a bit about what you do at Ambrosia. What is a common daytime routine like for you? Does Hector give you a hard time?

DD - Everyday I answer e-mail from all over the world and try to help people enjoy the whole range of wonderful Ambrosia products. Then I check all of the forums where Ambrosia products are traded and discussed. Finally I play the games and use the products so that I will be up to speed on there use and potential problems. Oh, also Hector and I have deep conversations.

AT - I know you have only been here for a short time, but have you decided which parts of the job you like, and which you dislike?

DD - I don't like the fact that I can't answer all of the game play questions about Escape Velocity.

AT - Have you ever followed the instructions exactly, and within 3 to 4 weeks recieved $85,000 in cash?

DD - Of course, you would have to be a fool not to take advantage of an opportunity like that, haven't you?

AT - Since you are the second Ambrosia employee to have lived in the Washington, D.C. area, do you think you will assist Jason Whong in his secret machinations to relocate the Ambrosia headquarters to the I-270 Technology Corridor in Suburban Maryland?

Jason Whong - Hey! That's supposed to be a secret!

AT - Sorry, Jason.

DD - Not a chance. I would much rather deal with snow than beltway traffic again.

JW - He has a point.

AT - Would you like to say anything to our devoted following?

DD - Thank you for your support and you really like me, you really like me. (Wiping tears from my eyes.) Just kidding of course. I know I have some pretty big shoes to fill. Cajun knew these products backwards and forwards, and given time I hope to be able to help all of you as well as he did.
