Ambrosia Internet Opportunities

by Andrew Welch
Our Internet site is up. For our web pages, the URL is:

http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/

For our ftp site, the URL is:

ftp://ftp.AmbrosiaSW.com/

Our server is an SGI WebFORCE server, hooked to a T1 line that is piped right into MCI’s backbone. That means fast.

So we’ve got a big pipe and a beefy server; what to do with it? Besides all of the cool Ambrosia-related pages and files you’ll find there, we also want to offer other resources that will benefit the Macintosh community.

The way I envision it is that when you hit our site, you won’t be taken to the Ambrosia home page — as you are now — but rather to a menu of cool Macintosh-related resources.

We’re looking for partners to work with us on this undertaking. It’ll work like this: we’ll give you an account on our server so you can maintain your web pages (or whatever), and we’ll serve ’em on our SGI. No charge.

One partner we already have working with us on this project is Paul Taylor, who puts together an excellent free monthly eZine called MacMedia. We’ll be giving Paul an account and space on our server, and he’ll be converting MacMedia over from DOCMaker to HTML format. Eventually, we’ll have every issue of MacMedia up and running on our web site!

That’s just one example of the kind of project we’re interested in having on our Internet server. Please get in touch with us if you have a proposal for a project you think we should serve on our site. eMail any proposals to andrew@AmbrosiaSW.com

We’ll entertain any proposal, no matter how far-fetched. However we’re not interested in serving anyone’s personal home pages and such. We want the kind of resource that will benefit the entire Macintosh community.

The eventual goal is a to have one kick-ass Internet site that offers all kinds of good stuff to the Macintosh community. Let’s do it.
